We would like to acknowledge our friend and the former President of WSC, Philp B. Weymouth, Jr. CPCU. (1936-2018) After receiving a Mechanical Engineering degree from Yale University followed by several years as Chief Engineer of a U.S. Navy Destroyer, Phil joined Weymouth & Smith in 1961, an insurance agency founded by his father in 1933. He was one of the early recipients of the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation which he received at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1964. He became a partner in 1967, President in 1970 and continued to work for the successor firm, Weymouth Swayze & Corroon, until his passing in 2018. He was an active industry speaker and retained his lifelong interest in the CPCU Society.

Phil had a profound sense of civic duty and giving back to the community. A central theme for him was Education and he served on numerous boards in Delaware and beyond. Phil never gave up his passion for the industry throughout his 57 years as an insurance professional. Until his last day in the office, he maintained his technical expertise, his interest for always improving one's knowledge though education and his dedication to serving his clients.
